We cannot become more loving by trying to love others
We cannot become more forgiving through our own efforts to forgive
We cannot become wiser by reading books on wisdom
In the eyes of the world, growth is a product of our own effort
But in the kingdom of God, growth comes effortlessly
A grape does not become sweeter by trying to be sweet
It does not take on a deeper color through its own strength
The grape grows in sweetness and color by abiding in the branch
The branch produces fruit by abiding in the vine
It is only through the effortless act of abiding in the True Vine and allowing His life to flow through us that love, compassion, forgiveness, and wisdom are developed in us.
Abide in Him

Thank you for this! Lately I’ve been ‘striving’ and forgot all about just ‘abiding’
Look at you……..absolutely awesome. I think I will abide right here for a time.
So true. Our efforts alone can do nothimg of great meaning.Only when we give ourselves over to our creator can we truly know the beginning of wisdom.
Love this!
This is sooo good and tremendously good news….
Beautiful!
Timely word! In the blessing of Joseph, Genesis 49. his place as a vine remained strong as he remained connected to the Source of Life. You’re a point man, Bro. <3
I have seen this in my own life. The changes have been amazing and it isn’t my doing at all. God is good
Grand slam.
Love it!
Jesus’ metaphors are such a comfort. I cannot choose how I grow or the fruit that I bear; the vine-dresser fixes the soil and does the pruning. btw, gorgeous picture.
