My Friend’s Healing Testimony
I was blessed (and honored) to share an evening with a new friend named Tom who suffered from multiple sclerosis for many years. Five weeks after his wedding, he was having a normal day when he noticed his foot felt like pins and needles. A few days later the disease had spread to a point where it nearly incapacitated him. The onset was so rapid that his neurologist gave him little hope for survival. The disease progressed and eventually, he was confined to a wheelchair.
During the time the disease was progressing, God used Tom powerfully to release healing and miracles for others. He learned about healing and miracles from John Wimber and was one of the original members of the first Vineyard church in Phoenix. He went from one healing service to another and saw hundreds of people healed of every kind of disease. Yet each night he went home and wondered, “Lord, what about my healing?”
The Lord often replied, “It’s not about you, Tom.”
Tom’s father was an alcoholic who verbally abused him, frequently telling him he would rather have someone else as his son. During his time of sickness, God did an amazing work in his heart, healing him of the wounds caused by rejection and abandonment. During this time, the Lord also shaped and molded his identity, transforming him into a new person. One day after a particularly awesome time of worship he confessed, “Lord, I love you so much that even if you never heal me, I’ll still love you more than anything.”
That part of his story really struck me. I wonder how many of us who are waiting for our healing could honestly say the same thing. Is our passion for God greater than our desire to be healed? Is it about us, or is it really about Him?
After seven years of the disease progressively getting worse, Tom finally began to see a reversal of the symptoms. After a while, he was able to walk short distances though it was difficult. He found all physical exertion to be exhausting. Climbing a flight of stairs would require him to sleep for an hour.
One day he was sitting in a prayer meeting with a group of guys when they decided to pray for the body of Christ separately. They all went to different parts of the building. Tom was sitting in his chair praying for the church when suddenly things got a little crazy. A friend said, “Hey Tom, I see the word “mapping” above your head and I think it has something to do with you being healed. Can I pray for you?” His friend prayed and Tom began to feel something like electricity zapping him in the head. Then he felt something like warm, liquid honey being poured over him. The next thing you know, he was up running through the streets of town completely healed.
In a vision, God showed him a dam with a reservoir behind it. He saw water dripping ever so slowly into the reservoir. Every drop of water that fell brought the water level a little higher until finally, the dam broke. This is how the Lord portrayed his healing. “Every prayer ever prayed for you was like a drop of water in the reservoir. Each one made a difference. Not one prayer was wasted. Now I want you to thank everyone who ever prayed for you.”
Tom was healed more than 20 years ago. He’s never suffered a return of symptoms. His neurologist will only say that he is in remission, but Tom knows the truth. I’ve never met anyone who is so enamored with God. His enthusiasm is off the charts. But it wasn’t always that way. He’s been through hard times just like you probably have.
I shared this story to encourage you not to give up on God. He hasn’t given up on you, and He never will. Let Him heal you of all the things you need healing from; both physical and emotional. Fall completely in love with Him and let Him show you the love that He has for you and if necessary, wait patiently for your healing to arrive.
I loved this story. I was born with a very severe form of glaucoma in both eyes, and I have had 22 eye surgeries that haven’t helped all that much. I feel things are worse rather than better, especially in the left eye. However, my greatest joy is praying for people with the laying on of hands. Sometimes it is what got me through, feeling God that way. This story gives me hope, so thank you so much.
He had a lot of patience and love for the Lord.
This story really touched my heart. We are expecting a creative miracle for my husband who was diagnosed with rapidly progressive dementia cause by corticobasal degeneration, which is a rare condition. We are standing in faith that by His stripes, he is already healed. He is a veteran and whenever we go to the VA Hospital, we ask people if they want us to pray for them and they usually say yes. We know that whatever the enemy meant for evil, our amazing God is turning it around for good.
I used to belong to a group on Facebook called “Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing”.. it was about False Teachers.. they showed pictures of many healers.. “well, this one can’t really be a healer.. he’s wearing glasses… look, they’re all wearing glasses, therefore, since God won’t give them perfect eyesight, they can’t possibly heal other people.” Yeah, that kind of rational, logical thinking. I eventually got myself kicked off the group when I found out they didn’t believe in gifts of the Spirit for modern times (no kidding!) and I declared that I did. Punted. That group was very damaging.
Lili, if you happen to read this, please look into a book called Keto Clarity, which was recently released on August 6th. It was authored by Jimmy Moore and Eric Westman, MD. It is all about the Ketogenic Diet, and how many conditions it helps, including cancer, epilepsy, and DEMENTIA. Also look into coconut oil, which is also scientifically proven to help with dementia. http://www.healthfreedoms.org/dementia-prevention-coconut-oil-continues-succeeding-big-pharma-keeps-failing/
Art, thank you so much for taking the time to write to me with that valuable information. I will most definitely look into it. I, myself , was totally healed of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome just by believing and applying the Word of God, after ten years of suffering with it, but I truly believe that God uses medical science and nutrition to heal us as well. It just takes faith without doubt and unbelief. Once again, thank you so much.
Wow! Amen PM! Hallelujah!
By Tom asking ” what about my healing” tells why it took 7 years for him to receive it. Praise God he did receive it, but he was the variable, not God. I question the Lord telling him ” It’s not about you” instead of telling him why he wasn’t receiving his healing. Jesus bore his disease so Tom would not have to, Jesus wanted Tom healed more than him, so I find that hard to swallow.
