Traveling in the Spirit and Healing
Many people, especially those who have no recollection of traveling in the spirit, might wonder what purpose there is for spiritual travel. One of the most common reasons l travel in the spirit is to be at the side of a person when I’m praying for their healing or deliverance over a great distance. I receive prayer requests from around the world and I can’t be in the same location as the one I’m praying for. I don’t believe it’s necessary to be in the same location. The effectiveness of healing prayer over distances has been well established. Yet, for reasons I don’t understand, I often travel in the spirit to be with the one who needs healing while I’m praying for them. The curious thing is that in many cases, I’m not aware that I traveled somewhere until I’m told about it.
As I pray for someone to be healed, I usually sit in my chair at my computer and close my eyes. As I pray, I’ll often see the figure of a person appear in my mind. Sometimes I can see myself extending my hands toward them. I pray as I’m led and then go on to the next prayer request. There isn’t much in this process that would make you think it involves spiritual travel except that in some cases, I’ll hear back from the person I prayed for and they’ll ask if I came to visit them.
Not long ago, a friend sent me a message asking if I would pray for his friend who had a headache. I agreed and a few minutes later, I prayed as described above. About 15 minutes later, my friend sent me a message asking if I prayed for his friend. I told him I had. He then said his friend sent him a message saying that a strange man appeared in his room and stood over him with his arms outstretched like he was praying for him. Apparently, I had traveled there in the spirit, though I was not aware of it at the time.
One day I received a request from a friend who needed deliverance from a demon. She lived in another state, so I closed my eyes and in my mind, I saw her standing in front of me. We kept in contact by text message, so, that I could check on the progress we were making. Speaking aloud, I commanded the demon to leave several times and after a few minutes, she could feel it leaving. Afterward, she felt much more freedom.
Traveling in the spirit and healing is more common than many of us suspect. It’s so common I don’t consider it unusual anymore. It’s just the way our spirit functions when it needs to carry out certain things like deliverance or healing. I believe many of us are already traveling in the spirit when we pray for others and are not aware of it.
