Donors – Thank You
I struggled for years over whether I should accept donations through my website. I’ve always wanted to rely on my own hard work to pay the bills. I’ve always hated the idea of taking donations from others. As an atheist, I viewed the begging for money that religious leaders do as an attempt to manipulate people’s emotions. I didn’t want to do that. So for years, I refused to ask for donations. That didn’t sit well with my wife.
Denise has always been a giver. She donates to many different causes and ministries. She understands that people want to support financially, those who are making a difference. She battled me over my resistance to taking donations and finally convinced me to put a donation button on the website.
Ten months ago, I hung up my stethoscope and became a full-time (and self-employed) writer. We knew that relying on book sales would be risky. There are lots of ups and downs in publishing.
In the last few months, I’ve been busy creating an online platform for video-based classes. Because my attention has been focused on that, my writing schedule has been put on hold. We haven’t published a book in six months and sales are the lowest they’ve been in over a year. But we aren’t panicking. Because during that time, many people have donated to support the work we’re doing.
Some of you have made one-time donations. Others have become monthly donors. Big or small, it’s all added up. And it’s helped us pay the bills and expand our vision. We want to publicly thank all who have donated to our ministry. It means more to us than we can express in words.
Let me tell you a little more about the vision God has given us for video:
One of my goals is to provide video-based teaching. That includes both pre-recorded and live streaming video. I’ll continue writing books and articles, but the Lord has shown me the opportunities that await those who are willing to experiment with live video. There are costs involved and technology hurdles to overcome, but I believe God will provide both the financial and technological solutions, in time.
This isn’t an attempt to coerce you into giving. No one should give to a ministry unless God puts it on their heart. This is just my way of thanking those who have obeyed that call and to let them know how their obedience has made a difference.
Thanks again,
~ PM
Isn’t you wife always right!?
Pretty much. 🙂
Awesome! I can barely wait for the videos and live streaming. I am preparing to have meetings in my community. It will be a first as far as i know, in providing materials/ info such as the topics you discuss and write about. I’m excited. It was just what I hoped for. Lori H
Wish I could do more.
You do more than your share.
God bless and prosper your endeavors and all that you do. Please consider folks with slow internet connections and low bandwidth, so they aren’t excluded. Thanks.
You contribute so much to our lives – we thank you!
Love you both!
Thank you!
