Trump’s Goal With Iran

You can surmise President Trump’s endgame for the military operation in Iran if you know his history and his deal-making strategy. As a real estate billionaire, when he’s negotiating a deal, Trump always has a primary goal in mind. He wants to acquire a specific property at a set price. That’s Plan A.

Plan B is the contingency if Plan A doesn’t happen. Plan B might be the same property at a different price, or a different property altogether. Trump always has a secondary goal in mind when negotiating.

Trump hates the way the JCPOA (Iran Nuclear Deal) was handled under Obama. It allowed Iran to enrich uranium under certain conditions. Worse, Iran never intended to adhere to the agreement. Their plan was to develop a nuclear weapon while pretending to abide by the JCPOA restrictions.

How often have we heard Trump refer to the JCPOA with disdain?
That’s the tell.

Trump’s plan A is to negotiate a deal with the Islamic regime similar to the JCPOA but better. That’s what the international community expects. Trump is willing to do what is expected, but only on his terms. He’s made it clear a hundred times what he wants out of the agreement.

Under his proposed agreement, Iran will never be allowed to enrich uranium or pursue the development of a nuclear weapon. And, just as importantly, the agreement would need to be enforced at the end of a gun barrel. Trump knows better than anyone that the Islamic regime can’t be trusted to abide by an agreement. They violated the JCPOA before the ink was dry. Trump’s preferred outcome is an airtight peace agreement enforced with a big stick.

But if Plan A doesn’t happen, he’ll operationalize Plan B, which is the total destruction of the Islamic regime’s war machine and the confiscation of its oil resources. Trump has made it clear numerous times that this will be his endgame if Iran refuses to sign his proposed agreement.

Those are the two choices the Islamic regime faces. I don’t see a third option.
